This week my crochet project was to do some finger puppets.I kept searching and finally found a cute dragon finger puppet.By afternoon, the face looked more like donkey than dragon. LOL . Evening when my hubby came he asked “Didn’t you get any other pattern than donkey for finger puppet?”, but I didn’t want to agree with the fact that it looked like donkey.In the end we came to a conclusion and named him Dronkey. Here is Mr.Dronkey.Tell me frens does it really look like a donkey?!?!?! 🙂
And recipe for this post is “Mangalore bun” , it is also called sweet bun.This dish used to be our breakfast dish when i used to stay in a working woman’s hostel in Bangalore.Our master chef Mr.Mariappa was an awesome cook.;) I used like this sweet bun and bread jamoon amongst his recipes.And i still remember few other from the menu which i didn’t dare to try. 🙂 So let us walk through this recipe of Mangalore bun.
Banana – 1 small (ripe)
Yogurt – 1 tbs
All purpose flour/Maida – 1 cup (approx)
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Sugar – 2 tbs
Salt – 1/2 tsp
Baking soda – 1/2 tsp
1) Mash the banana and mix this well with yogurt. Add cumin seeds, sugar , salt and baking soda.We do this because yogurt gives out some water,so add flour in the end.
2) Add required amount of all purpose flour/maida to bring the dough to chapati dough consistency.Cover the dough and let this rest for 3-5 hrs.
3) Press like poori(use oil to avoid sticking to the surface) and deep fry in oil. Yummy Mangalore bun is ready!!
Usually Mariappa gives coconut chutney to go along with this.Try it out.
